The NHS Consumer Law Center is owned and operated by the Non-profit ‘Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland’. (also called NHSGC or just NHS) To visit NHS’ website, go to: www.nhscleveland.org.
NHS decided to launch the Consumer Law Center to provide an additional tool for its clients in their pursuit of the American Dream of Homeownership. Because homeowners face important financial decisions every day, NHS wants to be there to continue to help them through the maze to financial stability and success.
The Consumer Law Center exists to arm the citizens of Ohio with the information that they need to make informed, intelligent and financially safe consumer decisions – through the use of educational materials, seminars, practical advice, and public awareness campaigns. The definition of what is (and what is not) a consumer good can be involved. Put simply, a consumer good is anything that you buy for your personal use, whether or not you are going to use that item at home. (This does NOT include anything that you buy to use at your business). The set of laws that protect consumers and consumer goods also include laws that deal with the money that you borrow to buy those things. What the Consumer Law Center does is provide help to people who could use more information to arm themselves and help them make decisions that are best for them and their families.
